Seattle's Magnuson Park + Off-Leash Area

Saturdays are for the girls... plus Ruby's new BFF Marty! Last Saturday we had the pleasure of meeting up with one of our favorite Etsy shop owners and a fellow Seattle transplant, Alison Ferro! She and her sweet puppy Marty showed us around Magnuson Park and Off-Leash Area, and treated us to a matching set of some darling new Spring accessories from their shop, JuniperLeaves. It was a puppy play date for the books, and we can't wait for our next visit!

About:
Magnuson Park Off-Leash Area is the largest off-leash park in Seattle. The expansive waterfront park has many features and is located near the University of Washington. With 8.6 acres of fenced play areas, and a winding trail for long wandering walks it is an excellent place for pups to romp and people to chat.

Conditions:
Though overcast and a little chilly, it was a great day to be out at the park! The day was dry and the trails were in excellent shape, as most have been graveled over many times. It was a weekend so place was packed and parking was overflowing, but we got lucky finding a spot up front to park! Score! I would still recommend if you're meeting someone at the park on a weekend to allow extra time to find parking.

What we wore:
In true Seattle form, the day called for sweaters, jeans, and boots. While I opted for my fave oversized, white pullover and tan Lucky Brand ankle boots, Alison wore the most adorable dark sweater and army green utility vest combo with some functional and fashionable duck boots (full disclosure Alison, I plan to steal this look ASAP)!

We both finished off our busy Saturday looks with one of Alison's gorgeous new designs from her Spring collection of headband and reversible dog bandana sets! While she and Marty rocked her Camo and Army Green set, Ruby and I sported a Floral Pink and Navy Blue set that is absolute perfection! Ladies, these sets are a MUST for a dog mom on-the-go! Whether you rock the straight half-pony like Alison, or second-day curls (plus SO MUCH dry shampoo, don't judge me), these twist headbands really help to pull a look together. Not to mention we were definitely the best dressed party at the park with our matching pooches!

Features:
This is by far the most popular off leash park in Seattle, and we could see why! Even on our first visit, it was clear that this was a kind of Mecca for Seattle dog lovers! There were obedience classes, coffee dates, family reunions, and puppy play dates all happening in one wonderful, wagging place! We wandered and chatted, and witnessed one fabulous, sunny Saturday showing of some of Seattle's most stunning dogs! From the fetch yard to the trails, and from the picnic areas to the small swimming hole, good times were being had by one and all!

Oh a human note, there are port-a-potties available, as well as tons of garbage cans and doggy bag stations throughout the park. There's lots of great benches and picnic areas too, so on a quieter day you could easily plan a lunch date with your pups! There's also a smaller shy/small dog area for pups who need a little more support.

The verdict:
Magnuson, you have our hearts! Ruby and I are already planning a return trip next time the weather allows! She loved the beach and all of the new friends, and as a new Seattleite, it was so great to get to hang out with some fellow pet parents! A HUGE thank you to Alison and Marty of JuniperLeaves for getting us out and about. You two are such gems!
